July 25, 2008: Harris County WebFOCUS User Forum

Join us for the City of Houston Police Department's Award Winning WebFOCUS Application:
How WebFOCUS is Used for Crime Analysis

Houston's finest, the City of Houston Police Department, will present their Crime Analysis Dashboard, KPI Upper Management Dashboard, and 24 Hour Crime Center Dashboard.
Bill Meyers, City of Houston Police Officer, and City of Houston Police Sergeant Gary Flynn, present this exciting, ground-breaking application used in Crime Analysis.

The Crime Center’s team uses WebFOCUS, Information Builders business intelligence platform, the company’s iWay Software integration technology, and ESRI’s dynamic geographic information system mapping tool to enable predictive analysis of crime activity in the city. The crime analysts drill down through the city’s crime data to identify trends, which allows the department to reassign officers to hot spots to reduce future criminal activity. The data analyzed is anywhere from 30-seconds to six-hours old.

“Thanks to business intelligence technology from Information Builders, our officers now have much more knowledge about a particular crime or incident than they ever had before,” said Houston Police Chief Harold Hurtt.
